Build a swatch card

Attach a small sample to a card and record the fiber information, width, source and date if known. Keep the care instructions and any product details with it. Leave unknown information blank instead of guessing from appearance.

Describe the feel, weight and drape in your own words. Photograph the sample beside a familiar reference if that helps you remember its scale. A photograph alone may not capture its texture or color accurately.

Add the project you considered it for and the result if you use it. Over time, the cards become a record of your own material choices rather than a set of abstract fabric names.
