Compare a fabric with the pattern requirements

Read the pattern’s fabric suggestions and required quantities before choosing material. Check width, stretch and other stated requirements. A fabric you like may behave differently from the one the pattern expects.

Compare samples in the light where you will work and use the finished item. Follow product guidance for care and any preparation before cutting. Ask an experienced sewing teacher or supplier when requirements are unclear.

Record the choice and what you learned after the project. Keep useful offcuts with the pattern notes so the next similar project starts with evidence.
